Firstly, when entering this beautiful restaurant we were greeted by the kind, professional restaurant manager. The atmosphere was welcoming, friendly and calm. The food especially was outstanding, we ordered the tandoori lamb chops with a rich garlic mushroom sauce (recommended by the restaurant manager) and the lamb was cooked beautifully the meat was tender the sauces were perfect. The vegetable momo dumplings were delicate and tasty, the sekuwa lamb was flavourful and had a gorgeous combination of flavours. The Waygu vindaloo with goan spice is definitely full of flavour and spicy, so spice lovers rejoice- this one is for you, beef was cooked beautifully too, the butter chicken was delicious with the naan bread and basmati rice. It was my first time trying the kulfi ice cream with dried rose petals and rose syrup and I really liked this dessert. Did I mention the exceptional views of the harbour with a gorgeous water backdrop? This is Sydneyโs Indian Gem, located in Lavender Bay, a must visit, truly an unforgettable experience. Thank you for such a lovely experience delivering exceptional food and impeccable service.
I went to Lavender Indian Restaurant and instantly felt comfortable. The place is cosy, welcoming, and has a really nice, calm vibe. The food was full of flavour and tasted fresh, comforting, delicious, and clearly made with care. And the service was genuinely lovely. Friendly, helpful, and not rushed at all. I left happy, full, and already thinking about coming back ๐
We celebrated a family birthday at Lavendra, and it turned out to be one of the finest Indian dining experiences weโve had in Australia. We chose the vegetarian tasting menu, and every course was beautifully paced, thoughtfully portioned, and exquisitely presented. From dahi puri, samosa, chaat, momos with sesame and tomato chutney, to Manchurian โ each entrรฉe was distinct and memorable. The mains were outstanding: mixed vegetable Madras with delicate coconut notes, rajma, paneer tikka masala, a beautifully balanced dal, paired with garlic naan, butter naan, and saffron rice. Dessert was a perfect finish with kulfi. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Utsav was exceptional โ warm, attentive, and instinctively timed each dish so the meal flowed effortlessly. It felt like a truly unparalleled tasting experience. Add to this the breathtaking panoramic views of the Harbour Bridge, and it became a lunch weโll remember for a very long time. We had one of the best seats in the house, and the setting made the celebration even more special. Elegant food, flawless service, and unforgettable views. We canโt wait to return for dinner.
Had such an amazing date night at Lavendra! The staff were absolute legends - they explained the tasting menu so well and made the whole experience feel special. We went for the wine pairing with each dish and it matched perfectly. The current menu is this super creative Indian x Japanese fusion and wow... every plate was full of flavour. The lamb cutlets were hands down the best we've ever had, and the chicken katsu butter chicken was cooked to perfection. On top of that, you've got stunning views of the Harbour Bridge and a really great vibe throughout the night. Couldn't recommend this place enough for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in Sydney!
This restaurant is truly a hidden gem perched on the side of the road overlooking Lavender Bay and Sydney Harbour, the views alone are worth a visit. The menu is seasonal making the most of available produce. We enjoyed a lovely evening with the Spring โJapanese inspired, Indianโ menu. We would have liked to have tried more of the dishes however the beef vindaloo with the seed Japanese style steak was delicious and the plain naan bread perfect for soaking up the sauce which had a new explosion of flavours. The pakoras (tempura inspired) were also a treat! Finally, the basmati rice is so flavoursome it could be a meal on its own. The McLaren Vale Tempranillo was also an excellent choice with the Vindaloo. The service was excellent explaining the menu (I wish I had remembered it all) and also very attentive. For the tourists one great thing about this restaurant is simply getting there. You can take the train and a simple walk to the restaurant (under the Harbourview Hotel) with stunning views overlooking the harbour (down hill). You can take the ferry and then have a beautiful walk through the gardens to the restaurant, or you can do a combination of the two (uphill). If you plan the trip, you can walk downhill to and from or if you want to uphill to and from to work off your dinner. We will be back as we always are when visiting Sydney.
