We just ordered mutton dum biryani. We asked staff if it is dum , they said yes. It took 20 mins which we didnot have problem. Biryani came it was pretty looking at first but when we digged in it was all gravy. Clearly the chef took 20 mins to mix curry and rice. We had biryani here before it was proper dum. We were told the owner has changed. Looks like they don't know what a proper Dum biryani is.
Ate at Priya’s this evening and the food was amazing. We had Samosa’s and Chicken Tikka for entree which were both great. For mains we had Butter Chicken , Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Korma which were all sensational. Roti, Naan and saffron rice to accompany the food. There was 2 Adults and two teenage children and there was plenty of food. Thoroughly recommend.
Very disappointing to see how the quality of good is getting worse in this restaurant. The service is quick, but please pay attention to quality of food. From my recent experience I can say the Hyderabad Chicken Dum Biriyani was full of just gravy. More than half of the Biriyani pot was filled with thick gravy which you just can’t eat. You are just making fun of Dum Biriyani with that kind of presentation. Onion Bhaji. Do you call that an Onion Bhaji? It looks and tastes like extra fried charred bhaji. The staff was polite enough to offer another plate of if I had told her before. But common, I don’t have to tell you. Just look at it before you serve. It’s absolutely not edible. Gobi 65 with gravy was average. Butter naan and garlic naan was good. Ambience is average. It’s in a busy area, so understandable. Parking is an issue on weekends. Bruce Bishop Car Park may be a right option instead of roaming around for parking spot. Just another suggestion. When we order soft drinks, don’t just give us a can. Charge a dollar more, pour the same Bundaberg Lemon Lime Bitters in glass with ice. Doesn’t that look better than a can? Hope the quality of food and presentation gets better in future.
We recently had dinner at Priya’s Indian Restaurant in Surfers Paradise after spotting it during an evening walk. The place had a calm vibe, maybe a bit too quiet — only one or two other tables were occupied when we arrived. The restaurant looked clean and nicely set up, but it lacked a bit of energy. The staff were polite and welcoming, though the manager or owner (we weren’t sure which) seemed a little down or distracted — not rude at all, just distant, which made the atmosphere feel slightly off. We ordered a mix of dishes — butter chicken, garlic naan, lamb rogan josh, and some rice. The food was okay, but nothing particularly stood out. Flavours were mild and a bit on the safe side. If you’re expecting rich, bold Indian spices, you might find it underwhelming. The butter chicken had a creamy texture but lacked depth, and the lamb was a bit dry. The naan was fresh and warm, probably the best part of the meal. Portion sizes were decent, and the prices were reasonable considering it’s located in a tourist-heavy area. Still, compared to other Indian restaurants we’ve been to, it didn’t leave a strong impression. Service was quick and efficient, and the staff were very respectful. However, with the restaurant being quiet, it felt like it needed a bit more life or engagement to make guests feel welcome. Maybe we just came on an off night. The menu had a good variety of vegetarian and non-veg options, so that’s a plus for different tastes. But overall, the food felt average, and the atmosphere a bit flat. Not a bad experience, just not memorable either. If you’re in Surfers Paradise and craving Indian food, Priya’s might do the job for a simple meal — but if you’re after something vibrant and full of flavour, you might want to explore a few other options nearby first.
The worst experience with the food. 5 families , in total 20 people, visited it on Easter Sunday. It is a horrible experience. 1. Gobi 65 was ordered and it was spoiled. Foul smell was there from the food. 2. Noodles were cooked used oil. Oil would have been used for deep frying and it was totally burnt. We couldn’t eat it . 3. The dosa batter was spoiled and dosas were foul smelling. 4. The mango lassi was worst. They mixed some powder to make it and it was orange in color and can feel the powdered texture. Ordered 6 of them and couldn’t drink anything. Of all this bad experience, the total bill was $525 including surcharge. Totally ripped off. The owner was arguing why is food not good. If it’s foul smelling what can you say. I advise others to find other restaurant rather visiting it.
