Chef Umil told me this Indian restaurant started here 8 years ago. He recommended me to try curry mutton and curry beef for my next food discovery. But I had my brunch already, so I tried the mix vege puff, and it was flavourful, not spicy but a little bit dry. Not bad. Cheers! (2022-02)

Zab Salad is the perfect place to grab a delicious and affordable lunch in Freo! Friendly faces and fresh food are the perfect combination. A handful of excellent curries are available in the bain-marie, which means fast service as well. Well worth a stop!

Best value for money local Indian in Fremantle! Maybe even the best Indian and I’ve tried mother India and copper chimney! I have tried them all and although I am usually very reluctant to order out of a Bain-Marie in this case a definite exception. Bring your tubs and fill them up for dinner at home! Zab must spend a good part of the morning or the night before preparing his delicious only 6 special curries for the day, plus the perfect mango lassies and some tasty samosas. This place has a well deserved local following and be prepared to get in line for lunch until all sold out. Usually 3 or 4 vegetarian options, a Goan fish curry, lamb and a chicken. The sauces are always rich, well balanced and infused, brown or white rice and they sometimes throw in a few extra pappadums. The venue looks pretty average and you might wander what the hell is going on, but where they lack in decor they make up for in their food.. it’s just all about the curry here and the value. So sit down, shut up and focus on your curry heaven. My girlfriend and I eat here at least once a week. Zab is a lovely sweet man and also brings his talents to the south freo markets if you miss him over the weekend! For the price you CANNOT go past this, Indian curry lovers you have to visit this place! Hopefully the tourists don’t catch on.
